SOUL KOBRA
Soul Kobra is a Turkish-American multi-instrumentalist, singer, dancer, and record producer from Queens, NYC. Initially a teen evading unbearable pain through the sparkly NYC/Miami nightlife, eventually faced head-on with vicious personal challenges including family trauma, mental health struggles, cultural isolation and addiction, Soul Kobra turned to music as his sanctuary. Fueled by sheer determination and spiritual faith in "The Big Chief,” Soul Kobra committed to creating the "ultimate funk music.” For ten years, Soul Kobra rigorously studied thousands of Funk, Disco, Soul, Latin, African and Middle Eastern tracks from the golden eras of the 70s and 80s and honed his mind and body through martial arts, weightlifting, and dance. This intense period resulted in an unprecendeted expansive mastery of numerous instruments, his growing skills as a composer, arranger, singer, and producer, and the develop of "Immigrant Funk / Maláma," – a fresh danceable reinterpretation of old school funk and disco infused with powerful Afro-Latin, Middle Eastern, and unmistakable Queens/NYC vibes.
Despite his unlikely background and challenging circumstances, Soul Kobra's journey of perseverance from isolation to artistic mastery follows in modern strokes the mythological hero's journey. The path of dedication and resilience; the path – also – of inspiration, respect, and service for Earth & Humanity.
